About The Maple Mentor
I’m Alex, the creator of The Maple Mentor, a Canadian investing blog created to cut through the noise and help Canadians build wealth the simple way—steady habits, low costs, and long-term thinking. No hype. No get-rich-quick promises. Just practical guides you can actually use.
What you’ll find here
- Straightforward beginner guides (TFSAs, RRSPs, index funds)
- Tools I actually use and recommend
- Book summaries and takeaways that save you time
- Step-by-step posts you can follow in an evening
Why I built this
Like a lot of people, I was overwhelmed by conflicting advice online. After burning hours scrolling, I went back to basics: books, fundamentals, and simple systems. That shift changed everything. The Maple Mentor is my way of sharing those lessons so you can skip the noise and get results faster.
My approach (the 3 rules)
- Keep it simple. Avoid complexity you don’t need.
- Keep costs low. Fees compound against you—cut them.
- Stick to the plan. Long-term beats short-term hype.
Transparency & how this site makes money
Some articles include affiliate links (for example, to books or platforms). If you click and buy, I may earn a small commission—at no extra cost to you. I only recommend tools I genuinely believe are helpful. If something isn’t good, I don’t promote it.
